The concepts of internal cleansing and detoxification have been around for quite some time. In modern times, as society has increasingly been exposed to toxic compounds in the air, water, and food, it has become apparent that our ability to detoxify substances to which we are exposed is of critical importance in our overall health.
Identifying toxins in the body and natural ways to support the detoxification and elimination of these harmful compounds. Toxic substances are everywhere... in the air we breathe, the food we eat, and the water we drink. Even our bodies and the bacteria in our intestines produce toxic substances.
Toxins can damage the body in an insidious and cumulative way. Once the detoxification system becomes overloaded, toxic metabolites (products of metabolism) accumulate, and we become progressively more sensitive to other chemicals, some of which are not normally toxic. This accumulation of toxins can wreak havoc on our normal metabolic process.
To focus on enhancing detoxification primarily by promoting improved liver function. Our modern environment seriously overloads our liver, resulting in increased levels of circulating toxins in the blood, which damage most of our body's systems. An overburdened liver sends out alarm signals that manifest as psoriasis, acne, chronic headaches, inflammatory and autoimmune disease, and chronic fatigue.
Types of Toxins
You may be asking, "What exactly is a toxin?"
A toxin is defined as any compound that has a detrimental effect on cell function or structure. Obviously, some toxins cause minimal negative effects while others can be fatal. We have organized the discussion of toxins as follows
*Breakdown products of protein metabolism
Including in this category are the following heavy metals: lead, mercury, cadmium, arsenic, nickel, and aluminum. These metals tend to accumulate within the brain, kidneys, and immune system, where they can severely disrupt normal function.
This category of toxins is primarily dealt with by the liver and includes toxic chemicals, drugs alcohol, solvents, formaldehyde, pesticides, herbicides, and food additives. It is staggering to contemplate the tremendous load placed on the liver as it detoxifies the incredible quantity of toxic chemicals it is constantly exposed to.
Toxins produced by bacteria and yeast in the gut can be absorbed, causing significant disruption of body functions. Examples of these types of toxins include toxins from bacteria (endotoxins and exotoxins), toxic amines, toxic derivatives of bile, and various carcinogenic substances.
Breakdown Products Of Protein Metabolism
The kidneys are largely responsible for the elimination of toxic waste products of protein breakdown (ammonia, urea, etc.). Drinking adequate amounts of water and avoiding excessive protein intake can support the kidneys in their important function.
Sun Drying... This is the original dehydration method. Some commercial food processors continue to use it, but trying it at home is more trouble than it's worth. Sun drying demands near-perfect low humidity conditions and temperatures in the high 80s to assure a reasonable amount of success. And even if you manage to meet these rather difficult requirements, food dried in the sun will take several days as compared to several hours in a dehydrator. Because sun drying takes so long, the food produced is of lower quality and nutritional value. Food is at the mercy of insects, dirt, and the elements. It is the least expensive way to dehydrate food and it can accommodate large quantities at one time.
Solar Drying... Promoted during World War II, solar drying is somewhat more efficient than traditional sun drying because of the increased temperatures. It also refined the drying process by (a) a tracking system to follow the sun, (b) a venting system to control the temperature, (c) enough space for construction and efficient operation, and (d) a back-up system to provide an alternative heat source and a fan to circulate air. However, despite these apparent improvements, it is still unpredictable, slow, time-consuming, and offers no assurance of food quality.
Air & Shade Drying... Spoilage is a significant problem with both these methods of food preservation. Because of the lack of the sun's heat, drying times are extended greatly. As a result, the time required to dry the food product is dry for a period of time that can range from several days to weeks. If you ever have time to spare, you might want to experiment with one unique form of air drying called "string drying." Slices of produce are strung on long pieces of string and hung from nails or rafters in a warm room. One of the most popular foods dried this way was whole string beans, or "leather britches."
Oven Drying... Although many people use standard, convection, and microwave ovens for drying food, oven drying, on the whole, is very "iffy." While generally a vast improvement over some of the older methods of dehydrating, scorching is usually a major problem. Also, food frequently comes out more brittle, darker in texture, and less tasty. Often times, normal oven usage is interrupted for long periods of time and the energy cost is usually substantially greater than an electric food dehydrator. Remember that standard, convection, and microwave ovens were manufactured for purposes other than dehydrating; therefore, oven drying is usually unsuccessful.

During my constant research for new healing products and modalities, I stumbled across an interesting plant that I knew little about! The more I researched, the more I knew I wanted a Moringa Tree! The tree has properties that seem endless! Here are a few;
7x more Vitamin C than Oranges
4x more Vitamin A than Carrots

I was lucky enough to find a local supplier and went to visit them. That is when I met Cornelius and Renee Epps. You could not find nicer and more spiritual people to deal with. I found that they had just published their own book that explains how to plant, raise and care for the trees and much more! They supply seeds, starter kits, seedlings, Oils, soaps and much more all with the healing essences of the Moringa Tree. Needless to say I bought seeds, several seedlings, the book and some soap. I have been watching these plants take off and I am now eating the leaves and will experiment with making teas and adding to smoothies!

I am growing moringa in my yard in south Florida. I have an old cat that was looking very rugged, he had an infection on his nose that was difficult to treat and he is difficult to deal with. I give him some dried moringa in his wet cat food each day. In two months he looked like a new cat, I swear he looks five years younger and it is obvious he feels better. I use it on myself also, I put dried moringa leaves in my yogurt daily. If it helps my old cat, I know it helps me. December 23, 2014. I want to add the cat even looks better as I have continued to feed him the moringa. He is getting fatter also, he had lost some much weight. I swear he looks like a teenager now! I mix at least a full teaspoon of Moringa in a small can of wet food, mixed with some dry food. I still put dried
Moringa in many of the foods I consume. I don't know if it helps me, but I have never been sick in any way. I am 67.
